There are two separate modes: one or two players working together to sink large enemy ships, or a dogfight mode where two players attempt to down each other's plane. In the primary mode, each player steers their always moving plane by rotating it clockwise and counter-clockwise. Enemy planes fly horizontally across the screen. When they are shot down they crash into the warship at the bottom. Each crash damages the ship. Mines floating in the water can be shot, damaging the ship from below. Players can damage the ship directly by dropping bombs. Only one bomb per player can be in the air at once. Repeated damage to the same location can cause a major leak. The ship explodes when a certain number of leaks have been made, a number that is different for each levels. As an intermission there are also submarines, sharks, and swimmers in the open water and they can be shot. Shortly after that a larger ship sails in that is harder to sink. There is an unlimited number of lives. When crashing into another plane a replacement is spawned once the wreckage falls offscreen. The player-controlled planes cannot collide with the ship at the bottom. After a certain amount of time a ship that is not destroyed will leave across the screen. If that happens twice the game is over. There are two variations of the game with different control mechanisms.
