Released 1980 Platform Arcade Published by Irem Corp. Interface Direct control Setting Sci-fi / futuristic Visual Fixed / flip-screen Gameplay Arcade, Shooter Perspective Side view Genre Action Description UniWar S is an early Irem fixed screen shoot 'em up in the mold of Galaxian where the player controls a ship at the bottom of the screen, with formations of aliens on the upper half. After the initial space wave, the player is warped into ground combat, signified by a dotted ground line under the player's ship. Once in ground combat, the primary differentiator is that the aliens can drop "Spy Aliens" that, if they make it to the bottom of the screen (basically under ground line) give the player trouble by poking a deadly electronic spear towards the player's ship. Spy aliens can be eliminated by destroying the "Killer King" an alien that makes an occasional appearance. Shielded "Rolling Fire" aliens can only be destroyed by shooting through a gap in the bottom of its shielding. From Mobygames.com. Original Entry |
